This journey is full of contrasts. Leaving the metropole Hamburg you will cycle about 430 kilometer through untouched nature and pass through dreamy towns and villages. Broad extended floodplains, beautiful half-timbered buildings and traces of 1000 years-old history will come across your way. The southern part of the Elbe river cycle path has its focus on historic meaningful cities. Actually three of them also appear on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Because of the direction of the wind, we recommend that you cycle this tour upstream. The difference in elevation is minimal. The description in the map however follows the course of the Elbe river.
