Take your time for the most beautiful part of the Elbe river cycle route. Meissen is world-famous for its long tradition of fine porcelain manufacturing and for its picturesque townscape dominated by the cathedrale. Between Meissen and Dresden you will pass the vineyards of Saxony. With a sightseeing tour in the former Saxon residence Dresden you will get an overview of this beautiful town situated at the spacious banks of the Elbe river. Leaving Dresden you will enter the deeply cut Elbe valley and enjoy an outstanding landscape called the Saxon Switzerland. Do not miss the panoramic view from the Bastei rock over fascinating sandstone mountains created by millions of years.

Category A: Mainly centrally located three and four star hotels and guesthouses (in small towns you will be staying overnight in comfortable pensions).

Category B: Three star hotels, guesthouses and pensions usually close to the cycle path.

Because of the direction of the wind, we recommend that you cycle this tour upstream. The difference in elevation is minimal. The description in the map however follows the course of the Elbe river.

Since 2010, €1.00 per participant will be taken from the profit made by each Active Tour and donated to Dresdner Kinderhilfe e.V. – a Dresden-based charity providing support to children with chronic illnesses.
