Itinerary

• 12/04/2024: Individual arrival in Dresden
  Wether by train, bus or car: You travel to Dresden individually and on Friday afternoon discover the historic city center of Dresden, often affectionately known as "Florence on the Elbe" ("Elbflorenz"). Discover the splendor and charm of the Elbe city and follow the footsteps of the Saxon Elector August the Strong. Your tour package includes one ticket for a special steam train ride. You can choose one of the special steam train rides. Please note your wish in the request.

• 13/04/2024: Dresden Steam Engine Festival
  The Steam Engine Festival opens its doors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. - so there is enough time to look around the festival site! With your admission ticket to the Dresden Steam Engine Festival, you are also free to visit the Dresden Transport Museum on this weekend. The museum displays unique exhibits on the history of all modes of transportation, such as railway, local transport, road and air traffic as well as shipping. In the morning and afternoon you can also "go on the rails" with a special train ride. You determine the daily program!

  On Sunday you can either visit the Steam Engine Festival once again or enjoy one of the various adventurous trips with special trains and steam engines in and around Dresden. You are welcome to extend your stay and spend a couple of additional nights in Dresden. Dresden and the surrounding area offer various fascinating day trips, for instance going on a narrow-gauge rail ride from Radebeul to Moritzburg or Radeburg with the Radebeul – Radeburg Railway (Lößnitzgrundbahn). In Moritzburg, we recommend you to visit the former hunting lodge of the Elector August the Strong. Equally interesting is a trip with the Weißeritz Valley Railway (Weißeritztalbahn) from Freital to Dippoldiswalde. Further you have the opportunity to go on a day excursion to the famous porcelain city of Meissen. The local porcelain factory was founded by the Saxon Elector August the Strong in 1710 and is still one of the world’s leading porcelain factories today. The Meissen porcelain belongs to the internationally best-known luxury brands Germany has to offer. For those who also like to explore the region on foot, an excursion to Saxon Switzerland, which is only about 1 hours drive away, is a good idea. Here you will experience a unique rocky landscape, wonderful panoramic views (e.g. from the famous Bastei bridge in Rathen) and the picturesque landscape of the Elbe valley. Of course, Dresden itself still has many attractions to offer, which may justify an extension of your stay. How about a visit to the famous Green Vault, the ascent to the historic Church of Our Lady or a trip on one of the historic paddle steamers on the Elbe?
