[infos] => One of the beauties of Munich is its proximity to the numerous lakes that are known as "Five Lakes Country", or in German "Fünfseenland". The region is named after its five lakes each of which has its own unique character. The most popular ones are Starnberger See, the second-largest lake in Bavaria and Ammersee. Furthermore the gorgeous lakes of Wörthersee, Pilsensee, Wesslingersee, Tegernsee and Staffelsee belong to the Bavarian Lakes.
Enjoy the white-blue cosmopolitan city Munich with its special Bavarian charm and then travel to the Bavarian Lakes region. Here all the rush is forgotten and you get enchanted by the unspoiled nature, the clear lakes and the fantastical view of the surrounding mountains.

[ettappen] => Day 1: Individual arrival in Munich
Use your first day of your cycling holidays to explore the Bavarian capital. There are many sights that are worth a visit such as Marienplatz in the centre of the old part of the city and the Frauenkirche, whose twin domes are possibly Munich’s most famous landmark as they dominate the skyline. Furthermore you should spend some time by strolling in the paths of English Garden and visiting one of the many Bavarian beer gardens. Enjoy the special Bavarian atmosphere while drinking a beer in a 1l-mug (so called "Mass").
Day 2: Munich – Murnau at Lake Staffelsee (approx. 65 km)
Your first cycle tour leads you from Munich via Forstenrieder Park to Lake Starnberg. Take a little break to enjoy the fantastic view over the lake before you continue your route through traditional Bavarian villages and past the Osterseen lakes and Lake Riegsee to Murnau at Lake Staffelsee. Here you can convince yourselves of the beauty of the "Blue Land", which is named after the legendary painters of The Blue Rider – Wassily Kandinsky and Franz Marc.
Day 3: Murnau at Lake Staffelsee – Garmisch Partenkirchen (approx. 40 km)
Today’s cycle tour first leads you through the nature reserve "Murnauer Moos", which is known as the biggest moor area in central Europe. From here you follow the river Loisach through untouched nature to Garmisch Partenkirchen. This tour is kept short on purpose, so why not take a ride with the Zugspitzbahn (cable car) at 2962 m altitude in the afternoon (extra costs)? Enjoy the view over the Alps from the highest mountain of Germany!
Day 4: Garmisch Partenkirchen – Mittenwald (train ride) – Wallgau (ca. 45 km)
In the morning you get to the holiday resort Scharnitz by train. From here you cycle slightly uphill through wildly romantic ravines and lush alpine meadows to the source of the Isar. From now on you will be accompanied by the Isar Cycle Path on your further cycle tours back to Munich. Along the young Isar river you cycle through the sunny valley with breathtaking panoramic views over the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountains and you reach Mittenwald and later Wallgau. Located in the sunny valley this place impresses through the naturally sincere hospitality of its people, its untouched landscape and a lively Bavarian tradition.
Day 5: Wallgau – Bad Tölz (approx. 50 km)
Passing the Isarwinkel and following the turquoise blue water, you cycle to the impressive lake Sylvensteinsee. Via Lenggries the cycle path leads you further to Bad Tölz. The town at the intersection of two trade routes developed quickly into a booming trading point. The rich decorated town houses still bear witness to this period of prosperity.
Day 6: Bad Tölz – Lake Tegernsee – Bad Tölz (approx. 45 km)
This morning you don’t have to pack your bags – though you should take your bikes because an especially beautiful cycle tour through the fascinating landscape of Bavaria awaits you today. You cycle to Gmund at Lake Tegernsee and enjoy the wonderful panoramic view over the lake. Later you cycle along the Gaißach creek back to Bad Tölz. The market route of Tölz invites you to walk in the footsteps of the famous German tv show "Der Bulle von Tölz".
Day 7: Bad Tölz – Munich (approx. 60 km)
From Bad Tölz the Isar Cycle Path leads you via Geretsried and Wolfratshausen to Grünwald. It can get slightly hilly on the long route towards Munich, but soon you reach your starting point of this circular tour – the Bavarian capital Munich.
Day 8: Individual departure
Hopefully you have had a wonderful cycle tour throughout the Bavarian Lake region. If you wish you can extent your holidays with some extra nights in Munich, Starnberger See, Murnau, Bad Tölz or Bad Wiessee.
