Circular cycle tour around Lake Constance incl. Rhinefall

Itinerary

• Day 1: Individual arrival in Constance
  Take the chance to visit Mainau island or take a walk through the old town of Constance. The aquariums in the Sea Life Center and the Archaeological Museum are also recommended.
  Overnight stay in Constance
• Day 2: Constance – Ludwigshafen/Überlingen (approx. 35-55 km)
  Today’s cycle tour leads through Allensbach and Radolfzell along the Höri peninsula, where the writer Hermann Hesse and the artist Otto Dix once lived. Further on the cycle path takes you to the Überlinger Lake and you will reach Überlingen.
  Overnight stay in Ludwigshafen or Überlingen
• Day 3: Ludwigshafen/Überlingen – Friedrichshafen (approx. 35 km)
  From Überlingen you will cycle to Friedrichshafen. You will pass by the baroque pilgrimage church of Birnau and the ancient town of Meersburg on the way. In Friedrichshafen the Zeppelin museum is worth visiting.
  Overnight stay in Friedrichshafen
• Day 4: Friedrichshafen – Lindau/Bregenz (ca. 25-35 km)
  Today, you will cycle through extensive orchards via Langenargen, where the charming Montfort Castle sits enthroned on the lakeshore. Shortly afterwards, you will reach the Bavarian town of Lindau. An imposing six-metre-high lion stands guard at the harbour, while the old town, which is listed as a protected ensemble, lies picturesquely on an island.
  Overnight stay in Lindau or Bregenz
• Day 5: Lindau/Bregenz – Rorschach/Arbon (approx. 45-50 km)
  Continuing on your way, you will reach Bregenz, the capital of Vorarlberg, famous for its annual festival on the worlds largest lake stage. You will then arrive in Höchst, cross the border again a little later and continue your cycle tour for a few more kilometres to Rorschach or Arbon.
  Overnight stay category A: Arbon; overnight stay category B: Rorschach or Arbon
• Day 6: Rorschach – Constance (approx. 30-50 km)
  Your todays tour leads you through Romanshorn, with the most important Swiss harbour on Lake Constance. You will pass many villages full with wooden framed houses on your way back to Constance. You can visit Mainau island today if you haven’t already done so.
  Overnight stay in Constance
• Day 7: Constance – Schaffhausen (approx. 50 km)
  You will pass picturesque swiss fishing villages at the youth bank of the Untersee while cycling to Stein am Rhein. Take your time to discover the St. Georgen abbey and its sourroundings before cycling to Schaffhausen which is overlooked by the Munot fort.
  Overnight stay in Schaffhausen
• Day 8: Schaffhausen – Rhinefall – Constance (approx. 55–65 km + boat trip), individual departure
  In the morning of your last cycling day you will visit the Rhinefall at Neuhausen, the largest waterfall in Central Europe. A boat will bring you to the Rhinefall rocks, so you will experience the full force of the thunderous waters. Afterwards your will go back to Stein am Rhein by bike and follow the cycle path to Gaienhofen. A boat will take you to Reichenau island. After exploring the island, it is only a few kilometres to Constance. In the early evening, you will receive your luggage and begin your individual journey home. You are welcome to extend your stay if you wish.
