Itinerary
Detailed tour description
Day 1: Individual arrival in Frankfurt/Oder
Discover the old university town of Frankfurt/Oder. There are a range of architectural highlights in store, from imposing, listed North German brick Gothic buildings to the impressive campus of the European University Viadrina, which exists since 1506.
Day 2: Frankfurt/Oder – Groß Neuendorf/Altlewin (approx. 58 – 68 km)
Today’s route takes you through the low-lying natural paradise of the Oderbruch marshes. The sea of picturesque fields and seemingly endless tree-lined avenues that accompany you as you pedal through the flat, marshy countryside or along the top of the dike will ensure that the Oderbruch lives long in your memory!
Day 3: Groß Neuendorf/Altlewin – Schwedt/Oder (ca. 65 km)
Another day, another procession of glorious natural vistas! Your route takes you through the Lower Oder Valley National Park, which is Germany’s only national park dedicated to river meadows. It ranks among the most biodiverse habitats in the country. You then glide past the Stolper Grützpott – a 12th-century fortified tower – and Lenné Landscape Park in Criewen before arriving in Schwedt/Oder.
Day 4: Schwedt/Oder – Löcknitz (approx. 80 km)
Savour the last few kilometres of unspoilt nature and endless meadows as you near the northern edge of the Lower Oder Valley. From Gartz onwards your route takes you through hilly countryside to Löcknitz.
Day 5: Löcknitz – Ueckermünde (approx. 58 km)
Today’s route is characterised by expansive moorland and picturesque landscapes of the Uecker River and the adjacent Stettiner Haff, a Baltic lagoon at the mouth of the Oder and Peene rivers. The region is home to a huge variety of flora and fauna. A stroll around Ueckermünde’s pretty old town and romantic harbour is a delightful end to a splendid day.
Day 6: Ueckermünde – Island of Usedom (approx. 28 km + ferry + 35 km)
In the morning you cycle from Ueckermünde to the Kamp ferry terminal, where the emission-free ferry takes you to Island Usedom in just a few minutes. From Karnin it is now not far to the Baltic Sea. The green Island awaits you with its wooded paths and wide sandy beaches.
Sporty option: For the complete stage without ferry, it is approx. 85 km.
Day 7: Overnight stay on the Island of Usedom
Usedom is known as the “Green Island” due to its forested, sometimes hilly paths and broad, sandy beaches. Enjoy your last day on Usedom and take your time to discover the island.
Day 8: Individual departure from the Island of Usedom or transfer service to Frankfurt/Oder
You can of course always extend your active holidays with some extra nights in Frankfurt/Oder, Ueckermünde, Island of Usedom, Berlin-Mitte or other towns along the route. We will be pleased to arrange additional accommodation for you.

Tour ratings
- Location / Length: The Oder-Neisse cycle path meanders along a route of 392 miles along the German-Polish border to the Baltic Sea. It begins in the Czech Nová Ves at the source of the Lusatian Neisse, crosses the border to Germany in the south of Zittau and from here continues 289 miles along the west bank of the Neisse to its estuary into the Oder. North of Frankfurt / Oder, the long-distance cycle path runs on somewhat more challenging paths to the Szczecin Lagoon and from here on as far as Ahlbeck on Usedom.
- Difficulty level / track character: The bike path, which has been excellently developed over long distances, often runs very close to the river. Starting from the Upper Lusatia in the south to the National Park Lower Oder Valley you can look forward to flat bike paths and other landscapes - a cycling pleasure for beginners and connoisseurs! North of the stage location Schwedt, the route of the Oder-Neisse cycle path becomes a little hilly, but all the more interesting.
- Signage / Logo: The logo of the Oder-Neisse cycle path shows the two rivers Neisse and Oder on a light green background and is labeled with the words "OderNeiße".
Sights and special features along the Oder-Neisse Cycle Route
In addition to Görlitz, the easternmost city in Germany, and the garden artwork Fürst Pückler Park in Bad Muskau, you will pass imposing monasteries and numerous dreamy gems on your cycle tour along Neisse and Oder. From Ratzdorf, where the Neisse flows into the Oder, fertile wetland meadows and floodplains determine the landscape. Enjoy the idyllic flora and fauna and immerse yourself in the history of former Hanseatic cities.
At Mescherin you leave the Oder River, which finally flows into the Polish Police in the Szczecin Lagoon. The Oder-Neisse cycle path leads you further to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, where you will find quiet forests, isolated lakes and moderate inclines. Arrived at the Szczecin Lagoon, salty sea air accompanies you on your cycle tours to the seaside resorts of the island of Usedom. Let your gaze wander into the distance!
