Art & Architecture Cologne, Bonn and Dusseldorf
Journey

What to expect
The Rhineland has a lot to offer for art lovers. Cologne, Bonn and Dusseldorf are fascinating cities with outstanding art collections, castles and museums.
Experience art from ancient to modern times and be enchanted by the contemporary art scene in these cities. The Rhineland stands above all for innovative paths in art and famous artists such as Gerhard Richter and Joseph Beuys have left their marks here.
But friends of the Old Masters and palace architecture also get their money's worth.
Anyone travelling to the Rhineland should also experience the culinary highlights. Beer and hearty dishes characterize the menus of the restaurants. So do not miss to drink an original Kölsch and look forward to Rhenish Sauerbraten.

Itinerary
Detailed information for journey "Art & Architecture tour Cologne"
Basic package for your art and architecture tour to Cologne
6 days / 5 nights
Day 1: Individual arrival to Cologne
After your arrival to Cologne you will get to know the city during a guided walking tour. If a tour to the Cathedral is possible you will be impressed by the history of this outstanding church.
Day 2: Musuem Ludwig & Sightseeing
Today you will get to know the art scene and history of Cologne. We recommend a visit to the Museum Ludwig which houses the biggest collection of pop art in Europe and one of the biggest Picasso collections. In the afternoon the city can be explored from the water during a sightseeing tour by boat.
Day 3: Day excursion to Bonn
Bonn is the former German capital and only a few kilometers far from Cologne. During a guided walking tour you will get to know the city where the world famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven was born. After lunch the Bundeskunsthalle can be visited, a centre for art, science and culture. In the afternoon on the way back to Cologne we recommend a visit to the Brühl Palaces Augustusburg and Falkenlust. Both castles are among the most important Baroque and Rococo buildings in Germany. Since 1984 they have been UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Day 4: Day excursion to Dusseldorf
Today an excursion to Dusseldorf can be added. Dusseldorf is a famous art and fashion city and has many impressive art collections and museums. World famous painter and artist Gerhard Richter has worked as a professor for art at the university here. A visit to the museum Kunstpalast should be a part of the programme. In the afternoon Benrath Castle will be visited, a palace from the 18th century.
Day 5: Wallraf-Richartz Museum & culinary highlights
Today you will have time to visit some museums on your own or do some shopping in Cologne. We recommend visiting the Wallraf-Richartz Museum which houses the most extensive collection of impressionist and neo-impressionist art in Germany. At the farewell dinner you will get to know the culinary highlights of the Rhineland such as the famous Cologne beer Kölsch and Rhenish Sauerbraten.
Day 6: Individual departure
