Cultural tour Black Forest
Journey

What to expect
Cuckoo clocks, “Bollenhut” hats and cherry gateaux are surely the most recognizable symbols of the Black Forest, yet its hills and valleys are also full of fascinating landscapes, living tradition and a blend of modern architecture and idyllic half-timbered towns. The region is also both renowned for and characterised by its traditional farmhouses with clipped gable roofs.
It was a blend of the Black Forest’s scenic beauty and the sense of tradition among its residents that attracted large numbers of artists to the region in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Their work made the Black Forest famous all over the world – we recommend to experience its unique beauty yourself!

My tip for the Black Forest: A steam train ride on the Sauschwänzlebahn line is a fantastic way to experience the romantic Wutachtal Valley. Magnificent viaducts, idyllic villages, hairpin bends and Germany’s only spiral rail tunnel are just a few of the many highlights!
