Cycle tour Prague - Dresden

Itinerary

• Day 1: Individual arrival in Prague
  Prague can easily be reached by airplane or train. If you wish to travel by car, we recommend to drive to Dresden and to use our convenient transfer service from Dresden to Prague. For the duration of the tour you can leave your car in the car park next to our partner hotel.
  Overnight stay in Prague
• Day 2: Individual Sightseeing in Prague
  Situated on both sides of the river Vltava, the ‘Golden city’ has plenty to offer. Visit the Old Town Square and watch the Astronomical Clock. Walk over the famous Charles Bridge with its sixteen arches to the Hradčany. You can easily explore the historic centre by foot and the friendly atmosphere in the shops, cafes and wine bars make Prague a delightful place to visit.

• Day 3: Prague – Melnik (approx. 55 km)
  Today you will start your bicycle tour from Prague to Dresden. After breakfast, you will leave the Czech capital and cycle along the Vltava River to the centre of the bohemian wine growing area Mělník. The castle in Mělník is the perfect place to watch the confluence of the two rivers Vltava (Moldau) and Elbe (CZ: Labe).
  Overnight stay in Melnik
• Day 4: Melnik – Leitmeritz (approx. 45 km)
  From now on the Elbe will guide you all the way to Dresden. Todays bicycle tour will take you via Roudnice to the former fortified town of Terezín. From here it is only a few kilometres to Litoměřice with its famous chalice house. End the day with a stroll through the charming old town with its Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance style buildings.
  Overnight stay in Leitmeritz
• Day 5: Leitmeritz – Decin (approx. 50 km)
  During today’s cycle tour, you will ride through Ústí nad Labem, past the ruin of castle Střekov and continue along the Elbe to Děčín. In Děčín we recommend that you visit the baroque castle on top of a rocky hill offering wonderful river views and where Frédéric Chopin went to search for inspiration.
  Overnight stay in Decin
• Day 6: Decin – Bad Schandau/Pirna (approx. 21/44 km)
  Leaving Děčín, you will be cycling on the left bank of the river and soon reach Germany. Now the bizarre rock formations of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains rise to the left and right of the Elbe. Enjoy the fairy-tale like landscape while riding on your bike.
  Overnight stay in Bad Schandau/Pirna
• Day 7: Bad Schandau/Pirna – Dresden (approx. 45/22 km)
  The last leg of your cycling holidays on the Elbe Cycle Path first takes you past the Königstein fortress and the Bastei viewing rock. Take your time to enjoy the impressions of the picturesque Elbe valley before you continue your journey. Shortly before reaching Dresden visit the famous Pillnitz Palace & Park and walk through the tranquil gardens. From here it is only a short distance along the cycle path until you finally reach Dresden. The historic town centre is perfect for a relaxed evening walk and for having a pleasant farewell dinner in one of the many local restaurants.

• Day 8: Individual departure from Dresden
  After a delicious breakfast and with lots of wonderful memories of your cycling trip along the Elbe River, you will start your journey back home. Feel free to ask us for spending some additional nights in Dresden or other towns along the Elbe Cycle Path. We will be delighted to arrange the accommodations for you. If you have to get back to Prague, we can offer you our convenient transfer service.
