On this centre-based cycling holiday around Lübben, your group will discover the remarkable diversity of the Spreewald’s natural landscapes and cultural heritage. Shortly after arrival, a traditional boat trip introduces you to the region’s unique network of waterways and offers fascinating insights into the history of this well-known resort. In the Upper Spreewald, the open-air museum in Lehde provides an authentic glimpse into the history of the famous Spreewald gherkins and everyday life in the region during the 19th century. Another cycle excursion leads to the Wehlaberg, where rewarding views stretch across the Lower Spreewald.

Cycle to the “green Lusatian metropolis” of Cottbus and follow in the footsteps of Prince Pückler through the park surrounding Branitz Castle. In Luckau, baroque residential facades, a cultural church and Germany’s only museum dedicated to humour and satire await your visit. The final day offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the Spreewald at your own pace. Whether you choose to visit the tropical leisure world of “Tropical Islands”, explore the waterways by boat or set off on another ride through the extensive network of cycle paths, there are many ways to round off your stay in and around Lübben.

Itinerary

Day 1: Individual arrival in Lübben
The state-approved resort of Lübben serves as the starting point for your seven-day centre-based cycling tour. The town is considered the gateway to the Upper and Lower Spreewald and offers an ideal base for shared cycling experiences in the region. Discover the beauty and history of the former capital of Lower Lusatia during a 1.5-hour boat trip (alternatively on day 6), or enjoy nature and cultural impressions together on a walk through the Lübbener Hain.

Day 2: Oberspreewald cycle tour Lübben – Straupitz – Burg – Lübbenau and back (approx. 52 km)
The first cycling stage in the Spreewald takes you southwards via Radensdorf, Neu Zauche and Byhlen to Burg. Along the way, the Dutch windmill in Straupitz offers an interesting stop. You then continue via Burg Kauper, Leipe and Lübbenau, where the open-air museum in Lehde is a cultural highlight. Finally, you cycle back together through the unique Spreewald landscape.

Day 3: Bicycle tour through the western Unterspreewald (approx. 50 km)
This circular cycling tour through the Unterspreewald offers active relaxation and pure, peaceful nature. The route leads via Lubolz, northwest of Lübben, to Krausnick with its Kreuzkirche church. Nearby, the Wehlaberg rises to 144 metres as the highest point in the Krausnick Mountains. From the wooden observation tower, you can enjoy a wide panoramic view over the vast Spreewald landscape together. The ride continues past Köthener See and through Groß Wasserburg. Along the way, you pass a variety of tranquil pond landscapes that characterise this unique region, before returning to Lübben.

Day 4: Bike tour from Cottbus via Burg to Vetschau (approx. 53 km)
Today, you will begin your tour with a train journey to Cottbus, the green city. Here, you can explore the famous Branitz Landscape Park and the Spreeauenpark, which are both ideal places to start discovering the region together. Next, you will travel to Peitz, which is renowned for its extensive 1,000-hectare pond landscape. At the end of todays route, you will arrive in the idyllic Spreewald village of Burg. Founded as a scattered settlement in the sixth century, Burg is considered the largest village in Germany by area. Take some time to enjoy a relaxed stroll and a culinary break together. Try some quark and linseed oil ice cream or cucumber ice cream, which we invite you to enjoy in Burg. The route then continues via Müschen and Suschow to Vetschau, where you will board the train back to Lübben.

Day 5: Excursion to Luckau (approx. 58 km)
Today, your group heads west once again. You will follow the Gurkenradweg, passing through Niewitz, a village known for its charming church, en route to Kasel Golzig. From there, the Niederlausitz Spreewald Cycle Route leads you directly into the historic merchant town of Luckau. Take some time to explore its impressive blend of baroque houses, medieval fortifications, and expansive parks. Afterward, your journey continues through the scenic villages of Cahnsdorf, Hindenberg, and Ragow as you make your way back to Lübben.

Day 6: At leisure, boat trip from Lübben
If you havent experienced a traditional Spreewald boat trip yet, today is the perfect opportunity. Alternatively, you could explore the unique waterways by boat or spend more time discovering the region’s extensive network of cycle paths. If youre looking for something different, you might also enjoy a visit to the popular “Tropical Islands” resort, which is located just three train stops from the village of Brand.

Day 7: Individual departure
With many lasting memories of the Spreewald, your group cycling holiday around Lübben comes to an end. After breakfast, you begin your journey home, or, if you would like to enjoy the region a little longer, you can extend your stay with an additional night in Lübben – please feel free to ask us!
