Weimar may be famous for many things, but did you know that the first Christmas tree was put up in a public place here in 1815, back in Goethe's time? From the parlour of a Weimar court bookseller, who put up the tree for the poor children of the city, the tradition of putting up a Christmas tree spread - still being practised today!

Experience the charm and contrasts of the unique cultural university city of Weimar during Christmas time. From the market square to the pedestrian zone to the theatre square, numerous Christmas markets line up and invite you to take a contemplative stroll. From November, an ice rink in the centre of the historic old town also attracts visitors to enjoy a festive get-together.

Get to know the charming city on a guided tour, indulge in culinary delights and follow in the footsteps of Goethe and Schiller on a visit to the imposing Weimar Castle and the Anna Amalia Library.

Itinerary

Day 1: Individual arrival in Weimar
Plan enough time for your Advent trip to Weimar on the day of arrival so that your group can get a first impression of this beautiful city on a guided tour of classical music. Two small culinary surprises await you during the cultural city tour.

Day 2: Weimar Castle and Anna Amalia Schloss und Anna Amalia Library
On the second day of your group tour to Weimar you will explore the Museum of the Castle where you will take part in a guided tour. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to visit the uniquely beautiful Anna Amalia Library. What about an atmospheric tour with a night watchman through the picturesquely illuminated and perhaps even snow-covered Weimar?

Day 3: Weimars beautiful surroundings

Exploring Eisenach city centre with its Bach and Luther houses and the Reuter-Wagner villa is another idea.
