Christmas is not a season. It is a feeling.

Surrounded by the scent of Christmas and bathed in subdued light, you can get to know a whole new side of the city of music in Leipzig at Christmas time.

Experience the festive atmosphere at the many Christmas markets in the Old Town, which merge into one another, and get into the Christmas spirit at musical Advent events: Motets and musical performances in St. Thomas Church exude a charm all of their own.

Leipzig Opera and the Gewandhaus also offer Christmas concerts that will enchant you. Leipzig is worth a visit at any time of the year, but you will be particularly thrilled in the run-up to Christmas!

Itinerary

Day 1: Individual arrival in Leipzig
You organize your journey to Leipzig independently. Take a first exploratory tour of "Goethes Little Paris" and pay a visit to the Christmas market.
Overnight stay in Leipzig
Day 2: City tour, Christmas market and music in Leipzig
Today you will explore the musical city of Leipzig. Your tour guide (Santa Claus) will take you through the city center past St. Thomas Church and St. Nicholas Church to Leipzigs most important sights. The Christmas city tour continues through the Christmas market. Here you will take a break with a mulled wine before exploring Augustusplatz with the Gewandhaus and Leipzig Opera. In the afternoon, you will then visit the Museum of Musical Instruments. During a guided tour, you will be introduced to selected instruments from five centuries of music history. You will be thrilled by the demonstration of the historical instruments! To round off the day musically, we recommend a visit to a motet or Advent music performance in St. Thomas Church. Leipzig Opera and the Gewandhaus also offer Christmas concerts that will make your Advent trip to Leipzig an unforgettable experience. We will be happy to organize tickets for events for you.

Day 3: Bach Museum and St. Thomas Church in Leipzig
You can spend today in the spirit of music with our BachPLUS package. You start with a visit to the Bach Museum. The world-famous composer Johann Sebastian Bach spent many years in Leipzig. He took up his post as cantor of St. Thomas Church here in 1723 and lived and worked in the city until the day of his death in 1750. The museum provides an entertaining and interesting insight into his life in 12 themed exhibition rooms. You will then visit St. Thomas Church. The church was Bachs place of work for many years. Today it is an attraction as the final resting place of the great Thomaskantor and home to the Thomanerchor. Later, you will have enough time to stroll around the Christmas market and sample various delicacies.
