AugustusTours Family Sunday

A day full of nature, games and community spirit in the Langebrück holiday village
On the morning of the 21st of September, we gathered with our families at Langebrück railway station. After a welcome glass of sparkling wine, we walked through the Dresdner Heide in glorious late summer weather and enjoyed the idyllic natural surroundings.
We soon reached the trout ponds, where we were warmly welcomed by members of the Naturschutzjugend Dresden (NAJU). An exciting challenge awaited us there: could we find as many different insects and small animals as possible in 20 minutes?
Equipped with nets and collection boxes, young and old searched the pond, stream and earth – and time flew by. Gradually, numerous filled containers accumulated on the table. Everything was there, from a dragonfly larva and a jay feather to small frogs and toads. While we marvelled at our finds, the NAJU staff explained exciting details about them, and we enjoyed a small picnic in the forest. Afterwards, all the animals were released back into the wild, of course.
Refreshed and enriched with new knowledge, we continued our hike and after a while reached our destination for the day: the idyllic holiday village of Langebrück. There was something for everyone here: while the little ones immediately ran off to the playground and trampoline, the grown-ups set up a table tennis table or played a few rounds of beach volleyball. We refuelled with refreshing drinks and a delicious barbecue buffet with homemade food – in keeping with AugustusTours tradition – and enjoyed ourselves.
Auction for a good cause
After a light afternoon buffet with homemade cakes, it was finally time for a special highlight of the day: the traditional AugustusTours auction! Not only do we support NAJU Dresden with 1.00 € for every traveller on our active and wine tours, but the money we raise at our annual internal auction also goes to the association.
From surprise bags to picnic blankets to apple roasters, many useful items changed hands – and in the end, a total of 57 € was raised for NAJU Dresden. A truly wonderful thing!
We gradually brought the day to a close with cheerful conversation and cool drinks before finally setting off on our journey home... Our thanks go to Anke Herrmann for organising this wonderful day and to NAJU Dresden for the exciting nature programme.
By the way: we have been supporting NAJU and its environmental education for children and young people with an annual donation since 2015. The issues of sustainability and environmental protection are very close to our hearts – after all, nature is the most important prerequisite for our cycling, walking and wine tours!
