AugustusTours invited at the Old Masters Picture Gallery

New rooms – new concept
During the guided tour to the Interim Exhibition our colleagues Kerstin Pelz, Frauke Mollée and Dorothea Thiedt had the chance for a first look at the new exhibition concept and the newly designed rooms and refurbishment. Included into the redevelopment was an altered concept of the wall colour to set the paintings effectively, the equipment with a new climate system and the restauration of numerous paintings. Visitors can look forward to a new relation between the artworks in which topics, genres and epochs meet and show interesting connections in the art of the Old Masters. Furthermore, some works are shown for the first time that have been in the depot of the State Art Collections up to now.
Anticipation for 2018
Until the great reopening in 2018 on which both wings of the Semper Building will present themselves in a new and modern look as an overall concept the west wing will be redeveloped from now on. We are very happy about these exciting developments of the Old Masters Picture Gallery and are looking forward to bring many art loving groups and visitors to that unique museum. World famous paintings like Raffael´s “Sistine Madonna”, Giorgione´s “Sleeping Venus” and Vermeer´s “Girl Reading a Letter” will be seen in a better light than ever before.
The reopening of one part of the Old Masters Picture Gallery makes us from AugustusTours once again aware that we have a real treasure here in Dresden. We hope that you will also be as excited as we are to see this incredible museum and its special exhibition! Why not visit the Old Masters Picture Gallery during a city tour to Dresden?
