All in all, the Prague to Dresden bike tour was one of the best experiences we have had so far in life! We were four days ahead of the floods that washed away the bike trails, the weather was not great but all this was largely insignificant all things considered. The people, atmosphere, history, culture, and scenery were all unbelievably special. The accommodations were excellent, breakfasts satisfying, the bike and equipment exceptional, services were near perfect and the instructions/maps given us left little doubt as to our progress, what to do, where to go, etc. Wow, what an exciting trip!!!!! I would highly recommend your company. Best wishes from Vancouver Island - Canada

I am very happy with the tour and can recommend it to anyone at any level of biking. The variety of hotels was interesting and the organization before the tour by Augustus was the best I have experienced. I have spent roughly 50 weeks biking in Europe, sometimes with full travel support, sometimes completely independently. All of the tour companies have provided good service but Augustus was the best. I will use them again.

Dear Ricarda,
Thank you for your prompt reply and your generous offer. As a participant in the service economy, the speed and integrity shown by you and AugustusTours is truly appreciated. I don't know when we will be back, but AugustusTours remains top of mind.
All in all, we were pleased with the Mosel tour. Best of all, we really dodged the rain which slammed Germany and France while we were riding. At the end of the day, however, we enjoyed ourselves, and that is what mattered most.
I really do appreciate all your help in terms of setting up and following up. Please know that Augustus remains top of mind for me and know I would not hesitate to book another trip with you.
All the best,
L. S. from Toronto

Saxon Switzerland is a very nice walking area where I enjoyed an amazing walking tour with some friends of mine. If you want to enjoy picturesque landscape and diverse nature I would definitely advise to book a walking holiday in the Saxon Switzerland National Park.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Augustus walking tour of Saxon Switzerland. It was extremely well organised, directions and maps were clear, communication before the walk was efficient and helpful, hotels were of a high standard. Parts of the walk were challenging but we were always rewarded with stunning scenery and a great variety of different landscapes each day. We highly recommend the tour.

After always dealing professionally with this destination I wanted to get to know Meissen and Moritzburg from a different point of view. Therefore, I joined one of our groups in autumn 2010 on their excursion to this region. The porcelain manufactory was my highlight on this tour. The museum and the demonstration workshop were very interesting and we learned a lot about the ‘white gold’. Accompanied by one of our experienced local guides, we continued with a walking tour of Meissen and further on, a visit of Moritzburg Hunting Lodge. All in all, the excursion was fantastic!

In March this year I went to Berlin for a short trip. Usually the weather in March doesn’t invite you for extensive walking tours, cruises or cycling tours. Therefore it would seem the thing to have a nice meal in a typical Berlin restaurant, going shopping or spending time in one of the world famous museums in Berlin. I used the opportunity to see an evening performance of the State Opera House Berlin. I saw a wonderful “Aida” with special singers, impressive stage decor and exultant guests. However the highlight of the evening was a backstage tour behind the scenes of the Schiller Theatre. I got an impression of the work at the mask and costume design but also of the enormous requisites and stage engineering. 24 hours a day people are working from one performance to the next rehearsals or concert. Such wonderful cultural events would not be possible without this involvement of artists, technician and music lovers. Thank you very much. I’ll like to come back again…

Hello Manja! Having just returned from the above tour to Berlin, I just wanted to say a big thankyou for all your successful organisation. The tour was a great success and everyone enjoyed themselves enormously. The hotel was excellent, all the buses were on time with friendly drivers, the restaurants could not have been better chosen (especially Diekmann's) and, as usual, Heike was a superb guide and very popular with the group. I am always happy when I see that Augustus Tours has arranged a tour and I know that a good itinerary and correct vouchers are waiting for me at the hotel. Best wishes Patrick

In the spring of 2013 I was lucky enough to take part in a bus tour of Leipzig. I’d been to the city many times before, but I’d never seen it from that perspective. I suppose I’ve always taken in the sights of the city centre on foot, so the bus introduced me to lots of things I’d not seen on previous visits. I was amazed at how many parks and woods there are in the city! We went past a charming little palace in Gohlis (the “Schlösschen”), old town houses and magnificent villas. Our route naturally also included the Monument to the Battle of Nations. I was surprised by the number of waterways that criss-cross Leipzig, and after the bus tour I took the opportunity to take a boat through the beautiful Plagwitz district. We floated past former factory buildings that have been converted to modern apartments, and I felt like I was in Venice rather than Leipzig! I’d say the boat trip was the highlight of my day.

I visited Munich in April 2013, and was really excited about seeing all the sights the Bavarian capital has to offer. A walking tour gave me some first impressions of the city centre, where we marvelled at Marienplatz square and the Town Hall, the Royal Palace and Odeonsplatz square – including the Feldherrnhalle and Theatiner Church – before continuing on to the Bavarian State Opera, Maximilianstraße and the “Victuals Market”. It was great! In fact, it was so great that I decided I needed to see it all again – this time from above. My reward for climbing to the top of a tower known as “Old Peter” was fantastic views across the sprawling city. Once back at ground level, I chose to take a bus tour which included a visit to Nymphenburg Palace. It wasn’t long before I arrived at the lavish palace, which was the birthplace of “Mad” King Ludwig II. His castles in Neuschwanstein and Linderhof are also well worth a visit – but make sure you set aside a whole day to explore all their delights.

The itinerary worked well and the hotel in both Dresden and Berlin were a good standard, good sized rooms and service and excellent locations. The restaurants were first class and so was the service and the coach drivers were polite and drove well. The guides were excellent with very good English, very knowledgeable and very informative. A very enjoyable holiday and all the members rated it "one of the best". Very many thanks again for making this tour such a success! (...) Everyone really enjoyed their time in Germany and we would like to thank you and all your colleagues very much for the wonderful and efficient organisation of all arrangements. We really look forward to working with you and Augustus Tours again in the future and I will be in contact with any group requests that we get for Germany.

It was so wonderful to have met you while the group was in Dresden. Thank you very much for taking your time to come to the hotel, Juliane. The tour is going very well, and I believe all pax are very happy. (…) Museum Island (Berlin) was great today and we really enjoyed being there. Thank you again, Juliane, for organising and managing everything so very well! Meissen was delightful, and yesterday being early at Charlottenburg (9:30) we had the palace to ourselves!

Dresden welcomed us with open arms and warm hearts, and I was overwhelmed by the City's sense of identity and determination to grow into the future. With Dresden now firmly fixed in my own heart, I shall return again and again not only with my clients but also personally, as I feel I have been privileged to make new friends who will remain close to me into the brightness of the future.

From my first moment of welcome from Augustus Tours at the airport, until seeing me safely at departures by transfer at Dresden International for my return home, I was looked after and provided with everything i needed to ensure a perfect visit/city tour of Dresden.
Information, guidance, a perfect hotel to stay in, every detail was taken care of with the ultimate Professionalism. Anke and her team ensured I had everything planned for a smooth, and relaxed exploration of the wonders of Dresden.
The City is truly a wonder, both from a historical viewpoint and for its vision for the future. The people of Saxony were a pleasure to meet, friendly, vibrant and so very welcoming. For anyone who has not yet visited Dresden...be sure to put this to the top of your wishlist!

The holiday was wonderful. Everybody enjoyed it thoroughly. With 2 flights, 3 hotels, 5 coaches, 5 guides, etc. everything was so well organised. It all went to plan. Hotels were all very good and very conveniently situated, guides had excellent English and were very knowledgeable, coaches all turned up on time and were very comfortable. The efficiency made my job all the easier. Thank you all so much for an excellent time. I shall be recommending you to others.
Many thanks indeed. Well done!

In 2011 I was invited to a FAM-Trip along the Romantic Road. As I have never been there before I was very excited about this trip. We started in Würzburg and visited all of the most important cities and sights along the Romantic Road up to Füssen – in only five days! It was absolutely exhausting but fantastic at the same time. The panorama in front of us when we saw the mountains of the Alps for the first time was breathtaking. I am not able to name a highlight because the whole tour was one! One day I will visit this region again but with more time.

Whenever I have got the time I head off with my camera in pursuit of new inspiration and the perfect photo. In autumn 2012 this led me to wonderful Weesenstein Palace. The illusionistic paintings all over the front of the castle create the impression of being in a miniature world. Even a lot of the windows are just painted on. The lovingly tended garden invites to stroll and enjoy the calm.

Piles of snow welcomed us when we spent some days in the Harz Mountains in April 2013. The region is definitely worth visiting in winter. The small lanes with its half-timbered houses in Quedlinburg and Wernigerode take you right back to the Middle-Ages. And with all the snow and the lights it looks so peaceful and very charming. We absolutely wanted to visit the Brocken with the typical narrow gauge railway. To really enjoy the view out over the Harz Mountains you need good weather conditions. As far as I know there are about 310 foggy days per year, so our chances were very low. As over the last years we often drove past the Brocken without visiting it, we decided that we now need to use this opportunity. Finally we spent just about 1.5 hrs at the top with visibility down to only 5-6 metres and an arctic breeze. Some day we will return in summer just because of the Brocken which is still marked in our ‘to-visit-list’.

There seems to be a UNESCO World Heritage site waiting around every corner in Lutherstadt Wittenberg! No fewer than four of the town’s buildings – including Luther House and the famous Castle Church – are on the UNESCO World Heritage list, and I couldn’t help but gaze in awe as I stood in front of the towering Castle Church. The church made a big impression on me – and it’s just one of many gems to be found in Lutherstadt Wittenberg. Luther lived in what is today known as Luther House from 1508 onwards. The building now houses a museum, where I gained a fascinating insight into the history of the Reformation. While strolling across the expansive Marktplatz square, I took the opportunity to take some snaps of larger-than-life sculptures of Luther und Melanchthon. Just a few minutes later I found myself surrounded by unspoilt countryside on the Elbe Cycle Path. Unfortunately, my short stay only gave me time for a brief glimpse of the wealth of historic sights the town has to offer.

During a FAM trip in November 2011 we ascended the dome of the Church of Our Lady in Dresden. What a great view over the roofs of the historic city centre and the Christmas Markets. I can definitely recommend including this to your visit in Dresden. But please plan enough time for this visit, because there are a lot of stairs to climb, partly a bit steep and narrow.

In January 2012 I travelled to Thuringia for further education and visited the Bach Museum in Eisenach. I do not find myself visiting museums very often but this one is worth it. The exhibition is very interesting and also the architecture is a good combination of half-timbered and modern elements. The highlight was a demonstration of the old instruments.

We leave the best until last...

Working with AugustusTours was an absolute pleasure. As Specialist Tour Operators working with choirs, our needs were very different to those of their usual customers but AugustusTours met those needs admirably. The company is a model of responsive professionalism and I look forward to working with Anke and her team again soon.

Best wishes

Hi Kerstin, Thank you very much for your email. All went well from coaches to guides, sightseeings and restaurants. Some of the comments: • A shame that Margravine Opera House was closed. Guide at Hermitage Palace excellent. • Driver and his service to us was exceptionally good. • The situation of the lunch in the garden of the Old Hermitage Palace was delightful and added greatly to our enjoyment of the visit. On the other hand all clients agreed that Parsifal was the best ever performance they’ve seen! I know you did not sing here ;) but it is nice when clients enjoy this much… Many thanks again for your help in making these two tours a great success! Cheers, Pablo

Dear Ulrike,

As I said to you in Dresden I was so impressed by how well the elements of the program had been drawn together and by how well the detail of the delivery had been thought through. It gave the group an itinerary that was full of interest but not at all rushed. From my point of view as program leader the documentation you provide was exemplary, well organised, detailed enough to anticipate every situation but easily managed and providing the support that ensured my job was anxiety free.

All the elements came together to provide a high quality and very enjoyable experience for the group. From my perspective the quality of your work enabled me to deliver an experience for my group which I was proud to be associated with. It was one of the best considered, best supported programs I’ve led, and I’ve been doing this for over 20 years!

So congratulations and heartfelt thanks, I hope we have the opportunity to work together at some time in the future

George

We have received many positive comments from those who went on the tour. They loved the food, guides, tours, mix of “Luther” along with other sites in Germany.
I appreciate all the work and organization that you put into making this an awesome experience! Thank you.

Dear Frauke

We are now home from Dresden. The weekend was terrific, lovely city, great hotel, good bierkellers, and marvellous locos! The evening event was amazing. We went on Sunday, when the weather was sunny and warm (but I guess you know that!).

I think we spoke at the Hbf when you were giving advice, but I didn't realise who you were and you obviously didn't recognise me! So I am sorry we didn't say hello!

Thank you at Augustus for your organisation and help with arrangements. I think we must remember April 6-8 2018!!

regards

David and Lorraine
