Itinerary

• Day 1: Individual arrival at Lake Wolfgangsee
  After arriving at the hotel, we recommend a visit to the picturesque Lake Wolfgang or a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear mountain water.
  Overnight stay at Lake Wolfgangsee
• Day 2: Circular walk around St. Wolfgang and St. Gilgen (approx. 10 km, walking time: approx. 3.5 hours, + 310 m, - 310 m)
  Your day begins with a scenic boat ride to St. Wolfgang, the starting point of today’s walk. From here, you will hike along the high trail to the Falkenstein rock wall, where youll be rewarded with breathtaking views over the shimmering Lake Wolfgang. The romantic lakeside path takes you to the small town of St. Gilgen. Known as ‘Mozart’s Village,’ it offers the chance to visit the museum at the birthplace of the world-famous composers mother. Afterwards, you will return to St. Wolfgang by boat.

• Day 3: Wolfgangsee – Bad Ischl (approx. 11 km, walking time: approx. 4 hours, + 350 m, - 350 m)
  Today, you leave St. Wolfgang behind and walk along the Saddle walk to lake Schwarzensee. Take a break at the lake cabin of Lore where the lakeside beer garden invites you to refuel with local specialties, fresh fish, and traditional Austrian snack platters. After a well-deserved refreshment, you continue through the Wirer gorge down into the valley. You walk around the Bürglstein on wooden footbridges right by the water. This takes you directly to the lake promenade of Strobl. From there, you take the bus to the old imperial city of Bad Ischl.

• Day 4: Day off in Bad Ischl (approx. 4 km, walking time: approx. 1.5 hours, + 170 m, - 170 m)
  Enjoy a free day to explore Bad Ischl at your leisure. Step back in time as you walk in the footsteps of Emperor Franz Josef and Elisabeth of Bavaria. Wandering through the old imperial villa and its expansive gardens, you can still feel the lingering elegance of Empress Sisi’s era, when the nobility gathered here for their summer retreats. For those seeking relaxation, the local thermal baths offer healing saltwater pools. At Café Zauner, you can enjoy a range of delicious homemade cakes and pastries.

• Day 5: Bad Ischl – Bad Goisern (approx. 11 km, walking time: approx. 3,5 hours, + 190 m, - 160 m)
  Todays journey is entirely dedicated to salt, the white gold of the region. Your walk begins along the elegant Ischl promenade, leading you to Kaltenbachau, where 200 years ago, emperors held horse races and lavish picnics. Even today, the green valley is still an inviting place to rest. After a short break youll step back in time as you join the historic brine pipeline trail. This path brings you to Bad Goisern, also known as the gateway to the world heritage Hallstatt. For those seeking an extra thrill, the Eternal Wall offers a spectacular high-altitude trail carved directly into the rock.

• Day 6: Circular hike around the Hallstatt World Heritage Site (approx. 13 km, walking time: approx. 4 hours, + 220 m, - 200 m)
  On the sixth day, you will continue walking along the brine pipeline trail up to the salt mountain. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with a unique natural panorama of Lake Hallstatt and the Dachstein massif. A visit to the local salt mine is definitely worthwhile. Our ancestors began mining salt here 7,000 years ago, making it the oldest salt mine in the world! The descent takes you to the World Heritage Site of Hallstatt via the Salzberg cable car and back across Lake Hallstatt to Bad Goisern by boat.

• Day7: Bad Goisern – Wolfgangsee (approx. 14 km, walking time: approx. 4 hours, + 240 m, - 170 m)
  Start your final walking day with a romantic train ride to Bad Ischl. The legacy of Empress Sissi continues to accompany you throughout this visit, so follow the Sissi Trail until you reach the picturesque Lake Nussensee. Nestled among dense, emerald-green treetops, the lake resembles a deep blue eye peering out from the forest. From here, you will walk along the banks of the Ischl River back to lake Wolfgang. Upon arrival, the lakeside path leads you through the 100-hectare Blinklingmoos, one of the regions most expansive moorlands. Continuing along the shore, you will return to your starting point in St. Wolfgang.
