Itinerary

• Day 1: Individual arrival in Krems
  Spend the afternoon exploring the charming historic old town of Krems. Take a leisurely stroll through its picturesque streets and be sure to see the Steiner Tor, the city’s most famous landmark.
  Overnight stay in Krems
• Day 2: Krems – Dürnstein (approx. 12 km, walking time: approx. 4.5 hours, + 530 m, - 550 m)
  Your walking tour along the Wachau World Heritage Trail begins high among the vineyards, where you can enjoy sweeping views across the Danube Valley, the town of Krems and Göttweig Abbey. You will walk along a chain of hills to the Fesslhütte hut, the ruins of Dürnstein and finally to the banks of the River Danube.
  Overnight stay in Dürnstein
• Day 3: Dürnstein – Weißenkirchen (approx. 16 km, walking time: approx. 5 hours, + 480 m, - 480 m)
  Take the ferry to Rossatz (cost not included in the tour price) and hike past Austrias largest apricot-growing region up to the Seekopf Lookout Tower. On a clear day, you can see all the way to the Alps! Alternatively, walk through the orchards along the River Danube.
  Overnight stay in Weißenkirchen
• Day 4: Day off in Weißenkirchen (approx. 4 km, walking time: 2 h, + 100 m, - 100 m)
  Enjoy ‘la dolce vita’ in the Wachau region and explore the charming town of Weißenkirchen and its neighbouring wine-growing villages on your own. Enjoy a glass of Heuriger wine, a Brettljause snack platter or an apricot dumpling and just relax. Alternatively, there is time for another hike on the Archleitenrunde trail with a stop at a local wine growers or a boat trip.
  Overnight stay in Weißenkirchen
• Day 5: Weißenkirchen – Spitz (approx. 11 km, walking time: approx. 3.5 hours, + 340 m, - 330 m)
  Follow the wine trail up into the unique wine-growing landscape high above the Danube. Explore the heart of the Wachau region along the World Heritage Trail. From the Red Gate, the landmark of Spitz, you will walk downhill to the famous wine village on the Danube.
  Overnight stay in Spitz
• Day 6: Spitz – Melk (approx. 15 km, walking time: approx. 4.5 – 5.5 hours, + 640 m, - 640 m)
  First, you will take the ferry to Maria Langegg (cost not included in the tour price). Here, you follow the St. Jacobs trail to the ruins of Aggsbach, where you can visit the castle and enjoy a culinary break. You will then walk downhill to Aggsbach where you can catch the bus to Melk.
  Overnight stay in Melk
• Day 7: Melk – Krems (Danube Cruise)
  The impressive monastery in Melk is particularly worth seeing. Towering high above the town, it invites you to linger in its beautiful gardens. Finally, you will return from Melk to Krems by boat. Sit back, relax and reflect on the wonderful sights and experiences of your walk along the Wachau World Heritage Trail.
