Itinerary

• Day 1: Individual arrival in Goslar Explore the historic imperial town of Goslar with its beautiful old town and charming timber framed houses. The Rammelsberg ore mine, famous for being the longest operating mine in history, also awaits you with various events and guided tours.
  Overnight stay in Goslar
• Day 2: Goslar – Vienenburg (approx. 15 km, walking time: approx. 3.5 h, + 36 m, - 152 m)
  Your walking holiday starts at the Neuwerk Church, passing the ruins of St Georges Monastery and leading through vast landscapes to Wöltingerode Monastery. Dating back to the 12th century, this historic site is home to its own monastery distillery and a hotel.

• Day 3: Vienenburg – Ilsenburg (approx. 20 km, walking time: approx. 5 h, approx. 4 h, +224 m, -121 m)
  Todays route is particularly charming, leading you along romantic paths. You will walk through the Schimmerwald forest and follow the Ecker river along the Green Belt, the former border between East and West Germany, until you reach Ilsenburg.

• Day 4: Ilsenburg – Wernigerode (approx. 13 km, walking time: approx. 3.5 h, + 211 m, - 223 m)
  Leaving Ilsenburg Monastery behind, your path leads through the castle gardens into more mountainous terrain toward Drübeck Monastery and its beautiful baroque gardens. After passing the ruins of the former Himmelpforte Monastery, you will reach your destination for the day: Wernigerode, famously known as the colourful town in the Harz mountains. Make sure to take enough time here to visit the castle, the historic town hall and the many other local highlights.

  Excursion to the Brocken
• Day 5: Wernigerode – Blankenburg (approx. 18 km, walking time: approx. 5 h, + 213 m, - 191 m)
  The hiking trail leads over the Austberg with its former watchtower and through the village of Benzigerode. You will then arrive at Michaelstein Monastery. Reflecting its current role as a music academy, the main focus of the exhibition is dedicated to the world of music.

• Day 6: Blankenburg – Thale (approx. 10 km, walking time: approx. 2.5 h, +115 m, - 207 m)
  In the flower town of Blankenburg, we recommend visiting the baroque gardens. Todays stage is a bit more challenging, but you will be rewarded with the sight of several impressive rock formations like the Teufelsmauer. After the ridge path, you will walk along forest and field trails via the Roßtrappe to Thale. Here, Wendhusen Monastery awaits on the grounds of a former knights estate.

• Day 7: Thale – Quedlinburg (approx. 21 km, walking time: approx. 5 h, + 199 m, - 219 m)
  The final day of your journey offers a wealth of significant monasteries and beautiful village churches. Passing St Marys Monastery and the Wiperti Church, you will reach the destination of the Harz Monastery Trail: the UNESCO World Heritage town of Quedlinburg.

• Day 8: Individual departure
  Today it is time to say goodbye to the hiking paradise of the Harz mountains. Of course, you have the option to extend your unforgettable walking holiday by booking an additional night at any location along the route. Please dont hesitate to ask us!
