Itinerary

  • Day 1: Individual arrival to Riva del Garda
    Once you’ve arrived, take time to unwind with a leisurely stroll along the lakeside promenade or explore the charming old town.

  • Day 2: Riva del Garda – Limone (approx. 13 km, walking time: approx. 4 hours, + 400 m, - 400 m)
    This morning, a transfer takes you to the Sonnensteig, the starting point of your hike around Lake Garda. From here, you are immediately rewarded with breathtaking views of the water below. A newly constructed footpath leads you along the cliffs high above the lake before joining the panoramic trail. En route, you will pass a small fishing museum, which is well worth a visit. Your walk continues to the picturesque town of Limone. True to its name, sampling the local lemon gelato is a must, and the charming old town is perfect for a relaxed evening stroll.

  • Day 3: Limone – Gardone Riviera/Salò (approx. 12 km, walking time: approx. 4.5 hours, +400 m, -400 m)
    Your day begins with a peaceful boat journey south across the lake to Toscolano. From there, follow historic trails deep into the valley, where waterfalls and mountain streams cascade through the scenery. Shaded paths lead you throgh tranquil forested areas and a sprawling mountain region to the elegant town of Gardone Riviera. Be sure to visit the exotic garden, which is well worth exploring, before spending some time in the charming historic centre.

  • Day 4: Gardone Riviera/Salò – Desenzano (approx. 15 km, walking time: approx. 5 hours, + 300 m, - 300 m)
    Start your day with a walk along the scenic promenade tracing the shores of the Bay of Salò, passing through Cisano and San Felice as you make your way towards the Manerba Peninsula. Along the way, the idyllic beaches of Manerba offer plenty of opportunities to pause for a swim or simply relax by the water. Continuing on sandy paths, you circle the peninsula beneath its majestic cliffs, enjoying ever-changing views of the lake. A boat transfer from the small harbour of Dusano takes you comfortably to your next destination.

  • Day 5: Desenzano – Garda (approx. 12 km, walking time: approx. 4 hours, + 250 m, - 250 m)
    Your day begins with a scenic boat journey along the lake, passing the striking Sirmione peninsula. Back on land, you follow leisurely lakeside paths through vibrant towns such as Lazise and Bardolino, right by the water’s edge. Then, a gentle ascent leads you up to the Rocca di Garda, where youll be rewarded with sweeping views of the long beaches and charming villages below. The trail then winds through shady woodlands as it descends towards the town of Garda. Here, a delightful lakeside promenade awaits, perfect for a relaxed stroll to end your day.

  • Day 6: Garda – Malcesine (approx. 11 km, walking time: approx. 5 hours, + 950 m, - 500 m)
    After a short bus ride, you set off on a rewarding trek along historic, stone-paved paths, hiking steadily towards a secluded hermitage. En route, you pass striking rock formations as the trail leads you along the slopes of Monte Baldo. At the top, you are welcomed by the Church of San Michele. From the nearby cable car station, you can choose to glide effortlessly up to the summit or descend directly into the valley toward Malcesine. End your day in this charming lakeside town and discover the historic charm of the impressive Castello di Scaligero.

  • Day 7: Malcesine – Riva del Garda (approx. 15 km, walking time: approx. 5 hours, + 500 m, - 500 m)
    To round off your tour of Lake Garda, the renowned and scenic panoramic Busatte trail awaits. This spectacular route is lined with well-maintained stairways and impressive bridges, offering breathtaking views down into the valley below. You will then continue through the lively resort town of Torbole, passing through olive groves and vineyards on your way to the historic Nago Castle. Finally, the picturesque lakeside promenade will lead you to your destination in Riva del Garda.

  • Day 8: Individual departure or extension
    After seven days of exploring the shores of Lake Garda, it is time to look back on a wonderful week of walking before beginning your journey home. Arrival & Departure

Tips on how to get to Riva del Garda:

Arrival by train:
Direct trains run from Munich to Rovereto, where a local bus will take you to Riva del Garda. Please note that bus tickets cannot be purchased on board. Current timetable information and price information can be found at www.bahn.de and www.trentinotrasporti.it.

Arrival by car:
If you are travelling by car, take the Brenner Pass and exit the motorway at either Ala Avio, Rovereto Nord, or Rovereto Sud – Lago di Garda. On www.parkopedia.de you will find a good overview of public parking lots and parking garages.
