Itinerary

• Day 1: Individual arrival to Merano
  Take time to explore the charming spa town of Merano on a leisurely stroll beside the river Passer. Set against a backdrop of stunning mountain peaks, the unique alpine Mediterranean flair of Merano invites you to discover its elegant parks, botanical gardens and historic architecture.
  Overnight stay in Merano
• Day 2: Merano – Nalles (approx. 19 km, walking time: approx. 5.5 hours, + 550 m, - 550 m)
  Today’s walk follows the Marlinger Waalweg, the longest Waal of South Tyrol , leading you as far as Lana. Along the way, you enjoy wonderful views over Merano and the Adige Valley, stretching towards Bolzano. The route then continues up to Tisens, passing picturesque castles, ruins and through deciduous forests. In Nalles, you step back in time with a visit to the impressive Payrsberg and Stachelburg castles, offering a glimpse into the medieval history of the region.

• Day 3: Nalles – Bolzano (approx. 11 km, walking time: approx. 4 hours, + 480 m, - 400 m)
  Today’s walk follows part of the three-castle route. After leaving historic castles and quiet paths behind, you will wander through open fields and meadows. Gradually, the landscape will give way to the vineyards surrounding the charming wine-growing village of Eppan, where the distinctive character of South Tyrol’s wine region is ever-present. Take time here to relax and enjoy the Italian flair before continuing by bus to Bolzano (transfer not included).

• Day 4: Bolzano – Meltina (approx. 11 km, walking time: approx. 4.5 hours, +480 m, -420 m)
  In the morning, take the bus to Jenesien. Sit back and enjoy sweeping views of Lake Caldaro, the castles and palaces along the wine route, and the jagged rockfaces of the Dolomites. From here, walk across vast meadows dotted with grazing horses and cattle until you reach the mountain village of Meltina, set on the high plateau of the Tschöggelberg mountain.

• Day 5: Circular walk Meltina (approx. 16 km, walking time: approx. 4 hours, + 610 m, - 910 m)
  The picturesque village of Meltina, situated above 1100 m, is surrounded by an impressive landscape of wide alpine pastures and flower-filled meadows. The route leads you through fragrant larch forests to the ‘Steinerne Mandln’ (stoney people), where magnificent views unfold towards the Rosengarten and many other striking peaks. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking vistas down into the Adige Valley far below. Take a break at the rustic hut on the “Möltner Kaser” with a tasting of traditional dumpling specialties.
  Overnight stay in Meltina
• Day 6: Meltina – Merano (approx. 13 km, walking time: approx. 5 hours, + 600 m, - 450 m)
  The final stage of your journey will take you through magnificent meadows and forests to the Knottnkino, where you will find three spectacular open-air viewing stages offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the Adige Valley. From the rocky peaks of the Knottn, the route continues to Hafling, which is renowned for its famous horse breed. A short bus ride (not included) will then take you down to Merano. Visit the splendid gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle before strolling into the town centre in the footsteps of Empress Sisi.

• Day 7: Individual departure or extension
  After spending a few delightful days hiking through vineyards and alpine pastures, its time to say goodbye to South Tyrol. After breakfast, you will begin your journey home, carrying many wonderful memories with you.
