Cycling holidays along the Rhine Cycle Path

International premium route

The Rhine Cycle Path is one of the most popular cycling routes in Germany. As an international premium cycle path, the Rhine Cycle Path offers excellent possibilities to discover the landscape on the left and on the right of the Rhine riverbank. Enjoy the visit of historically interesting cities as e.g. Mainz, Koblenz, Bonn and Cologne during your cycle holiday along the Rhine Cycle Path!

Discover the beauty of the river landscape and picturesque cities and villages along the Rhine riverbanks! Go on a cycling holiday along the Rhine Cycle Path! The cycling route, also called EuroVelo 15, accompanies the Rhine from the Alps to the North Sea and thereby crosses many different landscapes. Impressive buildings as e.g. castles, palaces, churches and cities attest how important the Rhine River always has been in human history. On your way along the Rhine Cycle Path you often cycle between the Rhine River and train rails or streets, because the Rhine valley is partly quite narrow.

More information about the Rhine Cycle Path

  • Route of the Rhine Cycle Path?
The Rhine Cycle Route, which is also known as EuroVelo Route 15, has a total distance of over 1,200 kilometres and follows the Rhine from the Alps to its mouth in the North Sea. The route crosses a wide variety of landscapes.
  • Route character of the Rhine Cycle Route?
The Rhine Cycle Route is predominantly asphalted and mostly car-free. In parts, the cycle route runs along both banks of the river on well-maintained and cycle-friendly routes. On the middle Rhine, the cycle path often runs alongside the railway and the road, as the Rhine valley is very narrow. As the well-signposted Rhine Cycle Path mainly runs along tarmac paths and quiet side roads, the route is easy to master even for inexperienced cyclists.
  • Rhine Cycle Path logo?
The Rhine Cycle Route is labelled with a blue logo. The square sign shows a stylised yellow cyclist whose wheels are reminiscent of the stars in the European flag. Above the cyclist, the word ‘Rhein’ runs sweepingly in Germany, which is extended in some places by the word ‘Rhine’.
