Beethoven als Bonner Buerger c Sonja WernerAfter your arrival at Cologne-Bonn airport or at Düsseldorf airport you can start your Beethoven music tour with a guided walking tour of Beethoven's life in Bonn. At 10 or 22 stations you will get a detailed and highly vivid impression of the young Beethoven's life in the city on the Rhine and the social circumstances in which he lived.

Day 2: Beethoven and Schumann
Today you visit the composer's birthplace the Beethoven House at 20 Beethovengasse. Since 1889 it is a memorial site, museum and a place of cultural encounters. You will experience his life and work during a guided tour incl. the Beethoven Collection. drachenfels bonn c m.sondermann presseamt bundesstadt bonnFirst on today's list will be a guided tour to Cologne which is popular for its cathedral in the city's heart. The admission to this tour highlight will also be included. After an individual lunch, you shouldn't miss the Ludwig Museum, a collection of modern art which includes the most significant trends of twentieth-century and contemporary art.

This day is charactericed by Bonn and its surroundings. You will start out with a ride on Germany's oldest cog wheel railway on the Dragon Rock. The 42nd Passion Play Oberammergau takes place from 16th May to 4th October 2020. The history of the Oberammergau Passion Play goes back to the year 1633. Plagued by pest and negative effects of the Thirty Years’ War, the inhabitants of Oberammergau decided to perform “the game of suffering, dying and rising of our Lord Jesus Christ” every ten years. The play was presented Whitsun 1634 for the first time.

You won't want to miss this impressive event! More than 2000 local amateurs, singers and musicians are involved – nearly half of Oberammergaus’ inhabitants.

By the way: The Passion Theatre Oberammergau is the largest open-air theatre with covered audience area worldwide: 4.500 visitors could become part of the event at the same time.

It is now over 200 years since the birth of Richard Wagner – a man who became one of the world’s greatest composers. Wagner’s compositional style represented the zenith of the Romantic Movement, and paved the way for further musical development right into the modern era.

Your first step is Dresden, the birthplace of the Lohengrin opera. It was at the Saxon Court Opera that Rienzi, Tannhäuser and the Flying Dutchman had their world premieres. During the visit to Graupa and Pillnitz you will learn more about Wagner and his time spent in Dresden-area. Furthermore, you will continue to Leipzig which is the city of Wagner’s birth and cradle of his musical ambition. Your tour ends with an extended visit of Bayreuth and the Festival Theatre.

Plan with us your music tour to Dresden and retrace the life and work of Richard Wagner. Delight in visits to the Lohengrin House in Graupa, the Semper Opera House and the Church of the Cross. On a music tour to Dresden not only the music will inspire you: Discover the saxon capital and get to know the most beautiful places of the "Florence on the Elbe" on this music tour to Dresden.
