Further Education in Weimar

To familiarise you with the cultural diversity of Thuringia, we recently went to Weimar on a further education course in the footsteps of Bauhaus and Goethe.

Classicism and Bauhaus in Weimar

"After a three-hour train journey, we checked into the hotel and headed off in two different directions shortly afterwards: Frauke and Juliane had decided in favour of the Bauhaus theme and made their way to the New Bauhaus Museum. Important: You should definitely visit this with an audio guide! Caroline and Anne continued their education on the subject of classicism and started at the Goethe Museum, which was both the great poet's home and place of work. In the Anna Amalia Library, they marvelled at the numerous volumes piled up on two floors and sorted by subject in the building, which is well worth seeing - barrier-free access and very impressive!

As well as visiting new hotels, it is always a good idea to visit long-standing hotel partners and get an update. This opened up new and very impressive insights into Weimar's hotel industry! A dinner together in the Benedictine inn jo'Hanns Hof fortified us for a spontaneous team consultation - the perfect end to a very intensive day of training.

The next morning, we visited the Haus am Horn, which, contrary to expectations, is quite difficult for groups to reach. Afterwards, we met a long-standing partner and tour guide of the city, who told us about news concerning the city palace - it will probably be under reconstruction for some time to come. She accompanied us into the city centre and showed us the Cranach altar in the Herderkirche. It's always worth getting to know our partners in person!

The last visit took us to the Wittumspalais, Anna Amalia's residence, which had been recommended to us as an alternative to the library. With its ballroom and many rooms, it also gave us a great insight into the life of the Weimar aristocracy. The walk back to the hotel took us past the Weimar House, which tells the story of the Weimar Republic, past the Schiller House and through the beautiful Seifengasse.

Our journey ended in overcrowded regional trains... It was Friday afternoon and all the passengers were travelling to the Saxon cities of Leipzig and Dresden. Understandable, isn't it?😉
