25 years of AugustusTOURS are a good reason to look back... Founded by Anke Herrmann in Dresden on 15th February 1997, AugustusTours has developed from a one-woman business to a renowned tour operator. The company works in two departments on the one hand package offers with luggage transport for cyclists and hikers in Germany and neighboring countries. On the other hand AugustusTours acts as Incoming agency and provides custom-made city and culture journeys for groups and associations in completely Germany with emphasis on Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. In addition to the managing director, the team consists of 19 employees.
The first active tours were presented in a DIN-long flyer.
From 2007 onwards, the cycling tours were advertised in the A5 catalogue.
Since 2012, there has been a joint catalogue "Cycling and Walking Tours".
The variety of offers brought the switch to perfect binding in 2018.
How it all began...
At the beginning of every business is finding a name. Easy to pronounce in foreign languages and at the beginning of the alphabet it should be: AugustusTOURS.
Initially, city tours and trips along the Saxon Wine Route are offered. The company's founder, Anke Herrmann, acts as organiser and takes over the guiding of her clients herself. The first cycling tours along the Elbe Cycle Route soon follow. From 2006 onwards, hiking tours along the Saxon Wine Trail and in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains enrich the offer. In 2007, AugustusTOURS moves into new business premises on the Turnerweg.
Full steam ahead
Our motto: "If you stop getting better, you stop being good". We were one of the first companies in Dresden to be awarded the "Service Quality Saxony" certificate (today "ServiceQualität Deutschland").
After AugustusTOURS had previously only used its years of experience on the subject of steam locomotives for groups, individual offers for the Dresden Steam Locomotive Meeting have also been organised for the first time since 2015.
With the publication of the information website www.elberadweg.com, a long-awaited goal has been achieved. AugustusTOURS likes to call the Elbe cycle path its house and farm cycle path, after all, individual cycle tours have been organised here since 1998.

In 2017, AugustusTOURS reaches a milestone in the company's history: For 20 years now, the Dresden-based tour operator has been attracting visitors to Dresden, Saxony and Germany's most beautiful regions with culturally rich group tours, eventful active tours and enjoyable wine and steam train tours.
In addition, AugustusTOURS is one of the three Saxon companies that will be awarded the "Großer Preis des Mittelstandes" by the Oskar Patzelt Foundation on 9 September 2017 at the International Congress Center Dresden.
Challenge accepted.
The Corona pandemic is giving the world challenging years and putting the entire travel industry to the test. AugustusTOURS - enriched by numerous experiences - continues to look positively into the future and organises the most beautiful cycling and hiking tours as well as city and cultural tours for groups.
The first videos are created: With models and camera equipment, it's off to Saxon Switzerland and along the Elbe back to Dresden. The camera captures a lot of holiday joy.
