Itinerary
Detailed tour description
Day 1: Individual arrival in Constance/ Kreuzlingen
Take the chance to visit Mainau island or take a walk through the old town of Constance. The aquariums in the Sea Life Center and the Archaeological Museum are also recommended.
Day 2: Constance/ Kreuzlingen – Wangen/ Stein am Rhein/ Gailingen (approx. 30 – 40 km)
Your first bike tour takes you along the southern shore of Lake Constance. Pretty Swiss fishing villages adorn the cycle path to Stein am Rhein in Switzerland. Enjoy a stroll around the town that is known for its medieval houses with their oriels and paintings. Furthermore take a look at the majestic Hohenklingen Castle during a walk along the "Schiffländi".
Day 3: Wangen/ Stein am Rhein/ Gailingen – Ludwigshafen/ Sipplingen/ Überlingen (approx. 40 – 60 km)
In the morning you cycle around the Höri peninsula, where the artists Hermann Hesse and Otto Dix lived for a while. The route continues on to Radolfzell, a pretty harbour town on Lake Constance, where a break in the old town or on the beach promenade is recommendable. After you have gathered some strength here, one of the few climbs on Lake Constance Cycle Path awaits you: the Bodanrück. But be sure, the effort is worth it: the view over "Lake Überlingen", a part of Lake Constance, is breathtaking. Your today's destination is the region around the old imperial city of Überlingen.
Day 4: Ludwigshafen/ Sipplingen/ Überlingen – Lindau (Cat. A, approx. 60 km) bzw. Kressbronn/ Nonnenhorn (Cat. B, approx. 50 – 60 km)
From Überlingen you will cycle to Friedrichshafen. You will pass by the baroque pilgrimage church of Birnau and the ancient town of Meersburg with its old Castle on the way. In Friedrichshafen the Zeppelinmuseum is worth visiting. Overnight stay in the region of Kressbronn.
Day 5: Lindau – Arbon (Cat. A, approx. 50 km) bzw. Kressbronn/ Nonnenhorn – Höchst/ Rorschach (Cat. B, approx. 40 – 50 km)
Today you will travel towards the Bavarian town of Lindau, which is picturesquely situated on an island. Then you will head on towards Bregenz. The capital town of Vorarlberg is famous for its annual drama festival on the largest lake theatre in the world. You will then pass through an important nature reserve on the Rhein delta.
Day 6: Arbon – Konstanz (Cat. A, approx. 35 km) bzw. Höchst/ Rorschach – Konstanz (Cat. B, approx. 60 km)
The last day of your tour leads you through Romanshorn, with the most important Swiss harbour on Lake Constance. You will pass many villages full of wooden framed houses on your way back to Constance. You can visit Mainau island today if you haven’t already done so.
