Itinerary

  • Day 1: Individual arrival in Trier
When you have settled in Trier, you can go ahead and explore the city. Longing for a little cultural-historical education, you can visit Trier’s Basilica of St. Constantin or the High Cathedral of Saint Peter in Trier. Both historical buildings are listed as UNESCO world heritage sights and are the pride of the city. Originally built as a part of the High Cathedral of Saint Peter in Trier, Porta Nigra, lying approximately 500 Metres north of the Cathedral, is the largest Roman city gate north of the Alps. As well as the Cathedral, Porta Nigra is also listed as a UNESCO world heritage site and is the symbol of the city Trier.
    Overnight stay in Trier
  • Day 2: Trier – Trittenheim (approx. 40 km)
As you bike along the Moselle bike way, you will pass many beautiful villages and towns along the way. An ideal time for a break offers itself as you enter Mehring. This small town has an unexpected treasure at its very heart – the remains of the roman Villa Rustica. In the pavilion, with its strong roman character, you can find out about the local archeological findings as well as taking a break to enjoy the nature around. When you have arrived in Trittenheim, we recommend you to take part in the local wine tasting. Along with a tour through the wine cellars, you will get the chance to taste 8 different sorts of wines and have a snack (booking required with travel registration).
    Overnight stay in Trittenheim
  • Day 3: Trittenheim – Zeltingen (approx. 36 km)
From Trittenheim it isn’t far to Neumagen-Drohn. In Neumagen you have the opportunity to stop and take a look at the famous Neumagen’s wine ship. This roman headstone is said to have been sculpted in the year 220 AD and served as a representation of the profession of the deceased. Returning to the Moselle bike way, the today’s cycling tour will lead you to the next town – Bernkastel-Kues. You might find that taking a break in this town will come in handy, as you may combine your resting time with a visit to the local Castle Landshut or explore the Moselle Wine Museum. Today’s cycling tour will end in Zeltingen, which is less than 7 km away from Bernkastel-Kues.
    Overnight stay in Zeltingen
  • Day 4: Zeltingen – Zell (approx. 35 km)
The next leg of your bicycle vacations will lead you along the winding valley of the Moselle riverbed, through the green nature and wine growing area of Kröver Nacktarsch, to Traben-Trarbach. Surprisingly for its size, this town has much to offer. Especially amusing is the bicycle museum or the toy museum. You may also cross the river to the fortress Mont Royal, built by the French in 1680-97, or to the Grevenburg Ruin from the 14th century. Another popular attraction is the boat tour on the Moselle River. When you have sufficiently enjoyed this fascinating historical city, you will follow the Moselle bike way through Enkirch to your today’s destination Zell.
    Overnight stay in Zell
  • Day 5: Zell – Treis-Karden (approx. 47 km)
After you have left Zell, you will cycle through several little towns before you arrive in Beilstein. This small settlement, with a total population of a little less than 140, attracts many visitors thanks to the ruin of the Castle Metternich. With its history dating back to the year 1268, the origins of the castles name lie around the year 1637, when it became the possession of the Lord of Metternich. Getting back on the Moselle bike way, it is only 11 more Kilometers to the town of Cochem. Besides the 11th-century castle, Cochem also has a chairlift, a mustard mill, leisure center and a lovely promenade. When you leave the town and pass through Klotten and Pommern, your final destination for this cycling tour is only a stone’s throw away.
    Overnight stay in Treis-Karden
  • Day 6: Treis-Karden – Koblenz (approx. 42 km)
Your last cycling tour will first lead you to the town Moselkern. Here you will have the possibility to take the winding 4.5 Kilometer long footpath to the Eltz Castle. Even though the climb is said to be fairly challenging, as you have to climb over 100 stairs, the castle will repay your efforts: It is considered to be the most beautiful and astonishing one in the entire Moselle Land! After that, you will get to enjoy the last kilometers of your bicycle vacations along the Moselle bike way until you reach the beautiful city Koblenz.
    Overnight stay in Koblenz
  • Day 7: Individual departure or transfer service back to Trier
Before you leave for home, take time for a walk through Koblenz. This unique town, lying on the confluence of Rhine and Moselle, will stun you with its remarkable elegance and style. Of course you can always extend your bicycle tour along the Moselle with extra nights in Koblenz or Trier. We are very pleased to arrange additional accommodation for you.
